ARCC Cautions Tricycle and Motorbike Riders
The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has expressed concern over the reckless driving of tricycle any motorbikes riderss in the Ashanti Region.
Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, speaking on Opemsuo Radio on Tuesday August 31, 2021, said ignorance on the part of riders on road rules and regulations sometimes results in the death of innocent citizens.
According to the Ashanti Regional Minister, effective Wednesday September 1, 2021, the Ashanti Regional Police through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) led by D.C.O.P Afful Boakye Yiadom will inspect the underlisted:
•Minors riding Tricycle
•Riding without licence
•Riding on the shoulders on the road
•Riding without helmet
•Riding in between the lanes and creating additional illegal lanes
• Riders jumping red light
•Overloading of tricycle
•Taking passengers in front seat of tricycle
He pointed out that, “Everyone in Ashanti Region will attest to the fact that Tricycle riders and Motorbike riders do not drive well they go contrary to the road regulations so offenders shall be apprehended, processed and arranged before a court of competent jurisdiction”.
“There is an ongoing discussion at the National level but until then we should be able to regulate how those rider’s should be operate within our justification and bring sanity in the system”, he added.
