Approval Granted for Temporary Trading Activities in Sections of Kejetia Market

Approval has been granted for temporary trading activities in selected sections of the Kejetia Market, effective December 15, 2025.
It comes ahead of the anticipated increase in commercial activity this festive season.
The approval was granted during a stakeholder engagement between Kumasi City Market Limited and the various leaders of the Trade Unions at Kejetia.
In a statement, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) stated that the designated areas were previously not for trading.
This will be in force until Thursday, January 15, 2026.
Meanwhile, it emphasised that all walkways and the 14 gates and entrances remain strictly prohibited for trading, to ensure the free movement of shoppers and maintain safety within the market.
“The Assembly counts on the cooperation and compliance of all traders to ensure a smooth and orderly festive trading period.”
