Appiatse Explosion: Police Say 13 Died Not 17

The Ghana Police Service has announced that thirteen (13) people died in the Appiatse explosion and not seventeen (17) as earlier reported.

Addressing the press at the site of the disaster, ACP Kwesi Fori noted that the state in which the four (4) were found created the impression that they were dead.

“Due to their condition, it was misreported that they are dead but when they were taken to the hospital, the medical officers certified that they were not clinically dead.”

The four (4), the police say were taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where they are taking treatment.

Per the records of the Ambulance Service, 190 casualties were recorded.

36 persons are on admission at the moment and 96 have already been discharged, ACP Kwesi Fori indicated.

Meanwhile, 384 persons have been displaced according to the report from the National Disaster management organisation (NADMO) who are presently being housed at a parish at Bogoso, ACP Kwesi Fori noted.
