Another “No Call Day” Protest Announced
The Concerned Mobile Network Subscribers group has slated another No Call Day protest for Tuesday, February 15, 2022, and themed “BE A CITIZEN, NOT A SPECTATOR. BOYCOTT SIM RE-REGISTRATION”.
This comes exactly a week when the “first of a series of planned boycotts” was unfolded by the group.
According to the group, neither the National Communications Authority(NCA) nor the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) can deactivate unregistered SIM cards at the end of March 2022 as has been threatened.
It believes the directive to re-register sim cards is an affront to the constitution and must be disregarded.
“The re-registration exercise is not only illegal, it is unsafe on many scores. It would therefore be a waste of anyone’s time to go to re-register their SIM cards, especially in a pandemic and at a time of data theft when the NCA and MNOs have demonstrated little or no safeguards regarding the data they are illegally harvesting.”
The Concerned Mobile Network Subscribers urged “well-meaning Ghanaians” to “be citizens and not spectators” by not making and receiving calls on Tuesday 15th February from 6 am to 12noon; change all social media profile photos or display photos (DP) to the #NoCallsDay campaign logo.
The recent press release from the group showed that the group has added to its membership from the initial fifteen (15) members to twenty-three (23) members now.
“Ras Mubarak, Prof. Raymond Atuguba, Dr. Kwesi Owusu, H. E. Hassan Ayariga, Mr. Franklin Cudjoe, Mr. Kofi Bentil, Mr. Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Mr. Kofi Kakraba Pratt, Hon.
