AngloGold Ashanti CEO Introduced To Otumfuo
The Chief Executive Officer of AngloGold Ashanti, Alberto Calderon, has been introduced to the King of the Asante Kingdom Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
His visit to the Manhyia Palace was on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, and in the company of some international and local Management members.
Leading the delegation to introduce him to the King was the Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti Ghana Obuasi Mine, Mr Eric Asubonteng.
Mr Calderon was appointed by the company Board in September 2021 to replace Kelvin Dushnisky who exited the role unexpectedly in 2020.
Alberto Calderon before this was CEO of Orica, the largest mining explosives company in the world. He was also an executive with the world’s leading diversified mining company, BHP Group Plc.
During his time with BHP Group Plc, Mr Calderon held several key leadership positions, including group executive and chief executive of aluminium, nickel and corporate development, group executive and chief commercial officer.
