Amoakohene Directs NAIMOS to Secure Dadwene After Attack on EPA Team

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has directed the Regional Unit of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) to secure Dadwene after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) team was attacked by illegal mining.
The attack on the task force by a group of organised illegal miners happened on November 6 during the operations of a joint team accompanied by journalists.
In a statement, the Press Aide for Ashanti Regional Minister, Hussein Ibrahim, said the NAIMOS had been directed to secure the area, halt all illegal mining activities, and ensure that the perpetrators of the attack and those responsible for the environmental degradation are arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the Minister has directed the Regional Police Command to investigate an accident involving the same team while fleeing Dadwene.
He has also directed the Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the Ashanti Regional Health Director to ensure that all affected personnel receive the best possible medical care and to closely monitor their management and recovery.
“The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring the safety of all officers engaged in lawful anti-illegal mining operations.”
