All Corruption Allegations Against My Appointees Were Probed – Prez

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that his government was duly subjected to accountability and demonstrated probity over his eight-year administration over the country.

Delivering an address on the state of the nation as he bows out of office on January 3, 2025, he affirmed that all his appointees were subjected to independent investigation whenever they were accused of engaging in corruption.

These investigations, he noted, generally came out negative, exonerating the accused.

“We ensured that all allegations of corruption levelled against appointees were duly investigated by independent institutions of state, which generally dismissed them as unfounded.”

President Akufo-Addo was nicknamed the “Clearing Agent”, particularly by the opposition party as he was always found to be defending and exonerating his appointees who were entangled in corruption and corruption-related practices.

He once reacted to the mockery as a “mere allegation without more is enough to merit condemnation of an accused public official. Especially one of my administration.”

“For my part and let me state it again for the record, I will not set aside due process and the rules of natural justice on the altar of the fight against corruption no matter how much opprobrium this position incurs for me.”
