Akyem Swedru MP Warns NPP MPs To Be Wary Of NDC After E-levy Cake Controversy
Kennedy Nyarko Osei, the Ranking Member on the Roads and Transport Committee in Parliament and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Swedru constituency, has warned his fellow New Patriotic Party (MPS) to be cautious when dealing with their counterparts from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This comes on the back of blame games currently taking place between the two, over a custom-baked E-levy cake the Majority leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, cut at his 65th birthday party last Saturday.
The release of footage of the green coloured cake has been met with public backlash at the governing party, NPP. Many feel the government is insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians.
Kennedy Nyarko posted on Facebook, claiming that the cake was gifted to the MP by the Minority in Parliament.
“They took these pictures last Saturday when they presented the cake to the Majority Leader at the tail end of his party on behalf of their caucus and kept the pictures all this while and decided to release them ahead of the planned“Yentua Demonstration’’ to ruffle the feathers of Ghanaians to get them angrier at the Government to join their demonstration. Politics, a very deviant vocation”, Kennedy Nyarko posted last night
However, the MP for Ningo Prampram Sam George in an interview on JoyNews’ PM Express, denied the allegation and dared Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu to name the NDC MP who gifted him that cake.
“Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Leader of Government Business, I dare you to name the NDC MP who sent you the cake. If you can’t name it in 24hours, the whole country will know you are a liar”, he said.
Reacting to this, Kennedy Nyarko said the plot was to discredit the ruling party and added that it’s a lesson to the NPP.
“Why should I be surprised about this? They are denying it because the issue now has turned into politics and the NDC wants to take advantage and cash on it.
So it’s not surprising that their own radio and TV stations that put out this news item are now denying it. Well, it’s a big lesson for you, the NPP leadership. Note that they will do everything possible to discredit you and your Government for the sake of power, so if you open your doors it will be at your own peril. Anyway am done on this matter”, he posted this morning.
