Akwatia By-election: NDC Will Attempt To Use Power To Win- NPP Deputy General Secretary

The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, is clear in his mind that his party will retain the Akwatia Parliamentary seat.

However, he foresees an attempt by the governing party to influence the outcome in its favour, which he vowed would be met with the needed opposition.

According to him, the needed force would be applied to stop any attempt by the National Democratic Congress to rig the election.

“There is nothing that is stopping us from winning this seat except if there is violence. NDC will be losing, and because they are in power and they have overused the power, they believe that they can use it anywhere, and this is the place to stop. They cannot use it here, and if you use it, maybe the election will have to be called off,” he told Joynews.

Asked if his statement was a threat, he replied, “It’s a firewall.”

In addition, he characterised some built men he moved around with as “citizens who have the right to free movement.”

Akwatia has gone to the polls today to elect a parliamentary representative after their MP passed away.
