Akwatia By-election: NDC National Organiser Unhappy With Turnout

The National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yamin, has expressed dissatisfaction with the voter turnout for the ongoing Akwatia by-election.
According to him, the exercise has so far attracted more observers than voters.
“You could see more observers than voters, and I don’t know what is accounting for that. If I’m left to conclude, I take it that disappointment may be one of the reasons why the turnout is low, especially when the NPP process in selecting who their candidate was wasn’t transparent.”
Over 50,000 electorates are expected to cast their votes at 119 polling stations in the constituency to replace the late Parliamentary representative, Ernest Kumi, who passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Contesting for the vacant seat are the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Bernard Bediako Baidoo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Solomon Kwame Asumadu.
