Akufo-Addo Statue in Sekondi Dismantled
Some unknown individuals have broken the controversial statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi.
The statue was inaugurated on November 4, 2025, a few weeks before the 80-year-old exited office as part of the Efia-nkwanta Hospital which is still under construction.
The move attracted public outcry.
A section of the public argued that it was inappropriate for the then President to unveil his statue when the hospital project had not been completed yet.
A few days later, it was reported that a portion of the statue had been damaged with the police initiating an investigation to fish out the perpetrators.
No arrest was however announced to have been made until its total destruction on January 12 night.
