Akufo-Addo In France For 6 Days Working Visit

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has left the country for the capital of France on six day working visit.

In a press statement, the Presidency relayed that he left on Saturday, October 8, 2022.

The President is expected to address the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at its 215th Session.

He will later today receive his third Honorary Doctorate.

The Sorbonne University in Paris will award him Doctor Honoris Causa.

“It will be recalled that the first was an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree conferred on him in May 2016, from the celebrated Fort Hare University of South Africa; and the second, in December 2017, was an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from the University of Liberia”, the presidency chronicled.

He is also scheduled to later address the Asia Society Forum on the theme, “To Act in Troubled Times: new perspectives from France, Asia, Africa and the world”, and commission the refurbished Chancery building of Ghana’s Embassy in Paris, the Jubilee House noted.

President Akufo-Addo was accompanied by the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo; the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey; the Minister for Education, Hon. Yaw Osei Adutwum, MP for Bosomtwe; and officials of the Presidency and Foreign Ministry.

He is expected back in Ghana on Friday, October 14.

The vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will take over the affairs of the country in the absence of the President.
