Akufo-Addo Appoints New Deputy IGP
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has named Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) in charge of Operations.
It was confirmed in a statement by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency.
The statement said the President on the advice of the Police Council made the appointment on July 17, 2024.
“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations.
“This appointment is pursuant to the advice of the Police Council at its meeting held today, Wednesday, 17th July 2024, during which COP Yohuno’s exceptional credentials and dedication to duty were acknowledged.”
The President believes his appointment is well-deserved and has since extended his heartfelt congratulations to him.
COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno is a law enforcement officer with a career spanning over three decades and has held various key positions within the Ghana Police Service.
From November 2007 to May 2009, he held the double role as the Divisional Commander for Accra Central and the Accra Regional Operations Commander.
COP Tetteh Yohuno was in 2011 awarded the Grand Medal for his meritorious service in combating armed robbery and other criminal activities in the country and got promoted in January 2012 to the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP).
He was later appointed Deputy Accra Regional Commander and rose to become the Regional Commander in 2013 until December 5, 2015.
He holds an Executive MBA in Project Management.
