Akufo-Addo Allots State Lands to Daughter and Niece- Ablakwa
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of allotting state lands to his relatives.
In a Facebook post with accompanying documents on December 23, he noted that the lands were given to his daughter, Edwina Akufo-Addo and his niece Adeline Akufo-Addo Kufuor four years ago.
According to him, while Edwina operates upmarket Nsuomnam Restaurant on the said state land, Adeline operates The Lotte, an elite fashion house on hers.
“Diligent parliamentary oversight conducted over many months has confirmed that the prime Cantonments land used for both private investments by the politically exposed Edwina and Adeline are Public Lands.”
Per his findings at the Lands Commission which has not been independently verified, the land for the elite fashion house which covers 0.33 acre (0.13Ha) remains a State Land acquired under Certificate of Title dated August 23, 1894 for Hausa Reserve.
Additionally, he said there’s no record of a lease or payment for that piece of prime Cantonments land, adding that the current use of the land violates the original purpose for the state’s acquisition.
“The Lands Commission adds that this land has not been affected by any plotted activity. From the Lands Commission’s records, it remains a mystery how the President’s niece came to possess that land and why official records do not reflect recent actual developments on that piece of land.”
On his findings on that of Nsuomnam Limited, the lawmaker alleges he found conflicting information over the 1.19 acre (0.46Ha) state land acquired under Certificate of Title dated August 23, 1894, for Hausa Reserve.
That notwithstanding, he is sure that the 1894 state acquisition is not in dispute, adding that the conflicting search certificates fail to offer credible accountability on the true state of that public land and how Edwina Akufo-Addo’s Nsuomnam took over.
“President Akufo-Addo’s apparent reprehensible conflict of interest conduct in this family land grab affair must be the subject of a special probe,” he demanded.
