Akrodie Stool Falls Back to True Royals

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has delivered a verdict against Opanin Baffour Awuah, who acted as the Ekuona Clan Head of Akrodie in the Ahafo Region, affirming the committee report that was presented to the Asanteman Council two weeks ago.

The dispute was between the Ekuona Clan Head, Baffour Awuah and one Kwaku Twumasi, also a member of the clan. It emanated from Twumasi’s opposition to the position of Baffour as the Head which offers him the right to choose a candidate to occupy the vacant Akrodie Stool.

It was the case of Twumasi that Baffour does not belong to the Ekuona Clan but rather the Aduana and therefore illegitimately occupies the Head position.

This prompted Baffour to invoke the Great Oath in his defence, noting that he is of the Ekuona bloodline.

Both parties were subjected to a committee probe during which they presented their evidence and witnesses for scrutiny.

Committee Report

The report of the Committee was presented to the Asanteman Council headed by Otumfuo on September 26, 2024.

The findings of the report affirmed that the stool was indeed for the Ekuona Clan and found the claims of Twumasi legitimate.

Verdict
His Majesty declared Kwaku Twumasi who opposed the authority of Baffour Awuah, to be the true royal and entitled to elect a candidate to ascend the stool.

This judgement, he gave with reference to his personal investigation.

“The findings of the committee is right.”
