Agric Minister Submits Resignation Letter
The Minister for Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto has handed over his resignation letter to President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.
The letter was submitted on Tuesday.
This comes days after the Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen resigned.
He will officially end his service at the Ministry on January 16 to focus on his presidential bid in accordance with the constitution of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Although Afriyie Akoto has relayed plans to aspire in the presidential election of the party in time past, he is yet to confirm if that is accounting for his premature resignation.
He had planned to resign in March this year, it is reported but on January 10, he submitted his resignation letter.
Reports say the Council of Elders of the NPP has ordered all presidential aspirants to resign immediately to ensure stable governance.
Receiving his letter, President Akufo-Addo wished him well.
Afriyie Akoto assumed office in 2017.
