Agona Clan Affirmed as Royal House of Bekwai Boaman Dikro Stool

A thorough inquiry into the true royal house of the Bekwai Boaman Dikro stool by the Kumasi Traditional Council headed by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II found that the Agona clan is the bona fide holder.

The stool which is subject to Adontenghene Nana Adu Gyamfi has been under contention over the true royal house for some time.

A committee report after investigations into the history and occupants of stool was read out before the Kumasi Traditional Council, the clan head of Agona, Mr Kwaku Yeboah and Mr Martin Gyekye, the representative of the clan head of Asenie, Mr Kofi Ofe during a meeting on Thursday, August 15, 2024.

After assessing evidence and testimonies submitted by the two factions, the Committee found that none of the evidence tendered in by the plaintiff, Mr Ofe, supported his claim to the Dikro stool.

It was found that all his evidence pointed to the Adonteng Stool- which was rightly theirs until their right to occupy it was severed as a punitive measure during the era of Asantehene Nana Osei Kwame.

“The evidence of Mr Ofe did not support his royal entitlement claim to the Boaman stool but rather the Adonteng Stool. However, since the Committee was tasked to investigate the Boaman Stool, we concluded on that note,” it was read out.

All the Divisions of the Council threw their weight behind the report after listening attentively to its content before Otumfuo finalized it with a ruling in favour of the Agona clan.

“Your claim {over Boaman} is neither here nor there,” Otumfuo stated, linking them to the Adonteng Stool rather.

His Majesty craftily lectured the representative of Mr Ofe- his nephew- on the series of events that led to the establishment of the Adonteng Stool for them {Asenie Clan} and their eventual prohibition from it.

“What has your clan done to make amends and appease that taboo you (your ancestor) committed? Let your clan tell you what they did that called for that punitive measure. Don’t let them push you into trouble in your ignorance and naivety. You are too young for that. Go tell your clan head to do the needful.”
