Agenda 111: Akufo-Addo Spent $400M With $1.6B Needed for Completion- Health Ministry

The Ministry of Health has rebutted claims that the previous government made all payments for the completion and furnishing of the hospital under the flagship Agenda 111 project.
According to the Ministry, the Akufo-Addo government spent $400 million on the project while an estimated $1.589 billion is required to complete all the hospitals as none was completed before its exit.
It further noted that the Trede, Kokoben, and Ahanta hospitals under the project commissioned by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo remain under construction.
It is 95% complete and yet to be equipped, it communicated.
“Out of the 111 district hospitals committed to construction, none is currently operational…Although Trede, Kokoben, and Ahanta hospitals were commissioned by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the project is still under construction with an overall completion rate of 95%.”
“No medical equipment has been installed, and some laboratory facilities are still under construction. The hospitals have not been handed over to the Ghana Health Service for operation,” it added.
The three will need $8.03 million each to be operationalized, the Ministry emphasised.
