Afenyo Markin Named Minority Leader In 9th Parliament
In the next Parliament, the Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo Markin will retain his position as the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament.
However, his status changes from Majority leader to Minority leader.
This was confirmed by the National Council of the NPP.
Meanwhile, the MP for Asokwa Constituency, Patricia Apiagyei will take on the role of Deputy Minority Leader.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh will be the Chief Whip and will be assisted by Habib Iddrisu as First Deputy Minority Whip and Davies Opoku as Second Deputy Minority Whip.
The shift in status comes after the NPP lost majority of their seats in Parliament to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 Parliamentary election.
