Adum PZ Fire: Our Market Layout Requires Overhaul- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has suggested a complete overhaul of market layout across the country to forestall devasting fire events as witnessed at Adum PZ on Friday.

The firefighters continue to struggle to access and douse the fire due to the market layout.

The President while sympathizing with the victims in Kumasi on March 21 afternoon, said the situation is similar in all markets across the country.

Addressing the press, he said, “The firefighters told me their major challenge was accessing the scene. This is the case in most of our markets so when there is fire, the fighters find difficulty dousing it.

“We have to learn from this and plan the layout of our markets to forestall such incidents… We have to relook at our market layout to forestall this.”

He disclosed that a meeting will be held between the Regional Minister and traders on this.

Meanwhile, he assured the victims of the needed support to mitigate the impact.
