Adding to Your Stool’s Assets Immortalises Your Reign- Asantehene to Nananom

Traditional leaders within the Asante Kingdom have been challenged to add to the stool assets they inherited.
According to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, this is essential to their immortalisation and honour.
Otumfuo brought up his concerns about stools having no assets or properties at the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs meeting on December 19, 2025.
Otumfuo described this as a disgrace that should be averted.
“Most often, we find nothing aside from stools after some chiefs die. But the honour of a traditional leader is what they are able to add up.”
His Majesty directed that each chief should develop an inventory of the assets they inherited and those they have subsequently acquired.
“You must have an inventory of things you came to meet and what you have added. It will even immortalise your reign. This includes your clothes. It brings glory to the stool. The inventory is important.”
“Sometimes money for burial becomes difficult. This is a disgrace that must be addressed. All your stools are honourable. Don’t bring any dent on the stool and chieftaincy.”
