Ablekuma North Violence: Nana B Calls Fine For Convicts “Mockery Of Justice”

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has condemned the court decision in the Ablekuma North rerun violence as a “mockery of justice”.
He took to his Facebook express his disapproval with the judgement.
“Sadly, what happened yesterday was a mockery of justice.”
According to him, the “meagre” fine by the court has no deterrent element and further alleged the influence of partisanship.
“Today, the price of beating, brutalising, and violating former ministers, national officers of the NPP, journalists, and citizens who partook in the Ablekuma North Elections has been set at a paltry 6000 Ghana Cedis.”
“Rather than being a punishment which is meant to be a deterrent, the Court’s treatment of the eight NDC thugs with kid gloves is an emboldenment and approval for thugs and hoodlums linked to the ruling government to perpetuate more violence knowing the NDC can pay a meagre fine for them and get away with it just like how the NDC party quickly arranged for GHC6000 to be paid for each of these 8 thugs.
The Accra Circuit Court on Friday convicted and fined the eight persons charged for instigating violence during the Ablekuma North rerun in July.
They were convicted on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Crime, that is Assault, contrary to Sections 23(1) and 84 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Each of the accused persons is expected to pay GH¢6,000 or serve 24 months in prison in default.
This judgment followed their guilty plea during their arraignment on August 26, 2025.
A statement by the police identified the accused persons as Mohammed Abubakari, 32, a Private Security Officer; Tijani Mahamudu, 38, a Driver; and Prince Dzakpasu, 39, a Businessman.
The rest are Anas Mohammed, 42, an Estate Developer; Mohammed Hamda, 35, a Mechanic; Darko Otibu Samuel, 33, a Businessman; Musah Muntari, 46, a Station Manager; and Ali Saeed alias Bomba, 43, a Businessman.
