Ablakwa to Resubmit Bill to Ban State Assets Acquisition By Politicians
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced plans to re-submit the Protection of State Assets Bill 2024 which was laid before the previous Parliament.
The lawmaker who is also the Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team tasked with securing all looted state assets by the immediate past government, initiated steps to resubmit the bill through a Private Members Bill to the Ninth Parliament on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
The aim, he said, is to prohibit politicians and politically exposed persons from buying state assets.
“This bill is definitely the permanent solution to the deleterious canker of State Capture.”
Hon Ablakwa is certain that the bill will push through this time around as his party has the majority in the House.
Additionally, he is confident that President John Dramani Mahama will assent to the Bill when passed.
“I am extremely confident that it shall be passed by this 9th Parliament and President Mahama will assent to it.
“It is most refreshing that we can passionately demonstrate our principled and consistent position on this matter whether in government or in opposition. State Capture shall surely be defeated!”
