A/R: Police Arrest Almost 500 QNET Workers Over Alleged Fraud

The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of 487 QNET- a company flagged as a Ponzi scheme- workers in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

They were arrested through an intelligence-led operation on Monday, September 2, 2024.

“The suspects, consisting of 257 females and 230 males, were arrested in a house located at Adwuman near Kenyasi, a suburb of Kumasi,” a statement issued by the police on Tuesday evening said.


Twelve of the suspects exposed as executives of the scheme were identified as Gyereh Evelyn, Francis Kpesah, Samuel Musah, Simon Yakubu, Thomas Kotual, Kwasi Nyabi, Benjamin Nsigma, Elijah Musah, Moses Katu, John Balabon Tagnakibi, James Nogma, and Fidelis Bang-ib.

 

It continued, “Preliminary investigations established that the suspects through the scheme, successfully enticed unsuspecting persons from various parts of the country under the guise of offering lucrative returns on their investments.”


Exhibits retrieved from them included registration documents and other materials bearing the QNET logos.

All the suspects are currently in Police custody assisting the investigation, it assured.

Meanwhile, the Service urged the public to be wary of such schemes and report such activities to its outfit.
