A/R: One Person Arrested During Council of State Election Re-run
One person has been arrested in the Ashanti Region following a confrontation between the police and supporters of one of the 12 candidates in the Council of State Election.
A video of the arrest was captured on camera and shared online on Monday.
The voting process is ongoing at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi in the election of the Ashanti Region’s Representative to the Council of State.
The election is taking place amid tight security.
Today’s election follows the disruption of last Tuesday’s election after well- built men invaded the premises of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC).
They interrupted the sorting process, assaulting electoral officials and journalists in the process.
The incident culminated in the transfer of former Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Frank Abrokwa to the police headquarters.
He has since been replaced by DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjo.
