A/R: Military Team Up With Police to Probe Alleged Assault on “Thieves”

The Ghana Armed Force (GAF) says a collaborative investigation has been initiated into the assault of three suspected thieves in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
A statement by the Forces said the attention of the Military High Command had been drawn to the incident that transpired on Friday, March 28, 2025.

Seven military personnel are said to have been fingered in the incident.

“Seven military personnel made up of three officers and four soldiers are alleged to have arrested and assaulted three civilians for stealing a mobile phone belonging to another civilian.”

The civilians are said to have suffered varied degrees of injuries.

An investigation has since been initiated into the incident by the Military Police and the Ashanti Regional Police CID, it added.

Additionally, it communicated that suspect officers and the soldiers have been placed under closed arrest while the investigation continues.

The GAF further assured that anyone found culpable would be dealt with according to the law as it urged the families and friends of the victims to remain calm and await the outcome of the investigations.
