Sammy Gyamfi Clarifies Minority’s Stance; Urges Ghanaians To Disregard Publication About Otumfuo

It was captured in some newspapers that the Wa Central MP, Hon. Rashid Pelpuo leading the Minority Caucus in Parliament has accused the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II of acquiring land in the Ashanti Region released by the government.

Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Sammy Gyamfi has clarified the stance of the Minority saying, the Minority called for a press conference to create public awareness on the recent acquisition of state lands by some individuals and politicians as in the cases of Achimota forest reserve, Sakumono, Adenta, and others across the sixteen regions of the country.

Speaking on Opemsuo Radio’s Nkwantananso show with Agudey, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi said, the Minority led by Hon. Rashid Pelpuo and the Lands Committee in Parliament did not raise a specific issue about the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s acquisition of land in the Ashanti Region as reported by some newspapers. He emphatically said, it is a false publication that should be disregarded as it does not hold any ink of truth.

He added that, it is the quest of the Minority to invite the Minister of Lands and Natural resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor to answer questions in parliament on the recent acquisition of state lands without any specification on Otumfuo’s case. He reiterated that, Daily Guide, Statesman, and the Chronicles newspapers presented false news which must be treated as such.

Mr. Sammy Gyamfi said the background of these Newspapers and their affiliation to the NPP is to shift the public’s attention from Sir John’s issue with regard to the Achimota forest reserve issue.
