Minority: We Expected The True SONA

The Minority in Parliament has conveyed their disappointment in the President for not relaying before the House the “true” State of the Nations Address (SONA) today, March 30.

After the President had completed his one hour eight minutes address, the Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu took his turn after the Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu to comment on the address and move the motion for the adjournment of the House.

“We expected him (the President) to deliver the True State of the Nation Address which will reflect on the growing hardship of the Ghanaian people”, he said and added that the president didn’t touch on the economic hardships Ghanaians are plunged into.

“Regrettably, today, he (the president) himself does not have the confidence to talk about the economy and continued on his promises and slogans”, he stated.

That notwithstanding, he said the minority was prepared to debate the address of the president.

The comment from the minority garnered a smirk from the President who was then seated on the Presidential seat in the middle of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and the Chief Justice, Justice Anim Yeboah.

The president was spotted telling something to the Chief Justice after the comment of Haruna Iddrisu amidst smiles.
