Dampare Commends Station Officer For Protecting Victims At His Peril
The Inspector-General of Police, George Akufo Dampare has commended the Station Officer of the Kwabenya Hills Police Station Officer for “laying down his life” for three who stormed the station for refuge from an alleged assailant.
The commendation from the IGP came during a visit to the police station on Saturday, January 29 after the incident.
“The Inspector-General of Police and some POMAB members on Saturday. January 29, 2022, visited the Kwabenya Hills Valley Police Station to encourage the men. He also commended the station officer for protecting the victims at the peril of his life”, the police reported in a post.
On Friday, January 28, the police say three persons stormed the Kwabenya Hills Police Station seeking refuge from an alleged assailant, only known as Hakimi, who threatened to kill them with a knife.
The suspect joined them at the police station, attacked the Station Officer and the Investigator-who sought to protect the victims from the attacker- and stabbed them multiple times in the head, police stated.
“Sensing that the lives of the station officer, the investigator, and the three victims were in danger, the police shot and killed the suspect”, a statement from the police said.
“The injured police officers are currently responding to treatment at the police hospital,” the police said while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue.
