Bawumia Meets U.S Secretary-General In Washington
The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has shared his meeting with the Secretary of State for the United States, Antony Blinken, and the Assistant Secretary of State for Africa, Molly Phee.
The meeting was held after the 8953rd Security Council Meeting in New York, on Wednesday, 26th January 2022 at the U.S State Department in Washington DC.
According to Dr. Bawumia, they discussed matters relating to recent insecurities in the West African region as well as issues on Covid-19.
Dr. Bawumia says the two countries, at the end of the discussions, agreed to increase the COVID-19 vaccine supply.
“We discussed the security situation in West Africa, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and agreed on the need to place much premium on COVID-19 vaccine supply, vaccine manufacturing capabilities, how to adapt and prepare for a next wave or pandemic.
The vice president had a similar discussion with the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres earlier in New York at the sideline of the the8953rd Security Council Meeting.
“Our deliberations covering vaccine manufacturing capabilities for Africa, violent conflicts, Ghana’s role in ensuring regional stability, as well as, how Ghana’s digitalization agenda fits into the UN’s global digital compact were assuring”, the vice president shared in a Facebook post earlier.
