Residents Call For Security Deployment To Agogo-Nhyiaeso After “Butchering” Of Teenager

A 15-year-old boy identified as David has allegedly been murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Nhyeaso, a farming cottage in the Asante Akim District of the Ashanti Region.

David was butchered when he together with his two junior brothers went fishing in a small stream near the farming cottage by the Fulani herdsmen.

Narrating the incident, David’s brother said the Fulani man started beating him while the deceased kept begging for forgiveness. But his plea was ignored by the herdsman who later pulled a cutlass and reportedly butchered him.

The two siblings run back from the cottage and inform their family about what has happened to their brother only for them to return and see the dead body of their 15-year-old with his left hand cut off and placed on his chest.

An official Police complaint has been made at the Agogo District Police Command while the body has been sent to the mortuary for preservation.

Residents and farmers of the Nhyeaso Community are calling for the redeployment of Security Officers to drive away the Fulani herdsmen who are entering into the farming district as a result of the dry weather.

The farmers say any further delay of the government security agencies will endanger human lives and farm produce worth millions of Ghana cedis across the district.
