Kwabena Duffour Opts Bagbin Or Iddrisu As Running Mate If Given The Nod
Former Bank of Ghana Governor under the erstwhile JJ Rawlings administration, Kwabena Duffour, has declared intention to run for the office of the presidency in 2024.
In an interview with TV3’s Roland Walker, the former Finance Minister under Atta Mills government said his race all depends on the National Democratic Congress’ primaries.
“I was a Finance Minister so I was in politics but we have not started talking about the NDC primaries yet, when we get there and I’m given the nod, why not”, he said.
He also pinpointed either the current Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, or Minority leader in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu as a running mate if his dream of running on the ticket of NDC sees the light of day.
“There are two people who are doing very well in politics. Look at Bagbin with 30years in politics and look at this young man, Haruna Iddrisu. Any of them, either Haruna Iddrisu or Bagbin could be my running mate. They are working hard out there. They will compliment me.”
In 2017, Mr. Duffour put out a communique to dispel speculations in the media domain that he would run for Presidency in the 2020 General election.
“I have no intention whatsoever to contest for any elective public office. I have served my country in various capacities and consider myself a statesman retired from active politics” the release put out by ghanaweb.com said.
