The twelve were nabbed after the police conducted a dawn swoop on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
The agitation sparked after Zuweiratu Mada Nashiru was announced as their District Chief Executive Officer instead of S. K. Orlando, their preference.
The police say they destroyed properties and assaulted some persons.
They are: Kwabena Manteng (43), Iddrisu Abdul-Rahaman (42), Sumaila Ibrahim (16), Kasim Abdul-Aziz (28), Kasim Latif (65), and Ibrahim Awuffor (23).
The rest are Osman Yussif (36), Mohammed Abdul-Latif (29), Fuseini Bawah (30), Kwame Mahamud (31). Bashiru Ayabli (29) and Arimiyaw (22).
This comes days after four others were arrested at Jamestown for causing distraction on Saturday, in connection with the announcement of finalized list of MMDCEs.
The police say they will continue to arrest anyone who breaks the law in protesting against the Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives nominated by the President.
