200 Security personnel deployed onto the River Pra.

President Akufo-Addo has charged the Ghana Armed Forces to remove all persons and logistics involved in mining on Ghana’s water bodies, the Information Ministry has announced.

This comes after it was agreed that mining activities on the country’s water bodies should cease during the Stakeholder Dialogue on Small Scale Mining.

In a press statement the ministry of Information said the operation commerced today, 28th April, 2021 at exactly six o’clock.

“The operation commerced at 0600 hours on Wednesday, 28th April, 2021 on the River Pra in the Central and Western Regions of Ghana.

It also added that two hundred officers of the Ghana Armed Forces are undertaking the operation.
