Five Positives Identified As Asante Kotoko Beat Ebony FC 5-2
Asante Kotoko SC launched a blistering preparation ahead of the second round of the Ghana Premier League yesterday by annihilating lower tier side Ebony FC 5-2 in a friendly match.
The Porcupine Warriors have augmented their squad with three newbies to help them to win the 2020/21 league trophy.
Experienced goal-poacher, Solomon Sarfo Taylor, Brazilian forward, Michael Vinicius and talented young striker, Andy Kumi Francis have all joined Kotoko in the second round to push the club to win something worthwhile.
Yesterday’s friendly match gave what the teaming supporters of the Ghanaian giants should expect.
Kwame Baah’s Braveness
Asante Kotoko goalkeeping department is one of the strongest departments of the club. Each of the three goalkeepers have shown they are capable to take the number one position.
Kwame Baan produced a 24-karat performance when he kept the post in the friendly match. Though he conceded a goal and was red carded due to obscenity, his overall performance was impressive. He saved a penalty to wind up his performance.
Andrews Kwadwo Appau’s big heart
The young central defender from Tano Bofoakwa for the first time in his Kotoko journey enjoyed a 90 minutes game. His partnership with Wahab Adams was a cutie-pie. Confident on the ball with unmatched technical ingenuity to read the game. He doesn’t make a mistake with his passes. He produced a vintage performance to inform the technical his readiness to step in the shoes of Ismael Abdul-ganiu, Habib Mohammed, Mubarik and other central defenders.
Patrick Asmah’s ‘romantic’ display
Former Ghana U-17 & 20 left-back produced yet another resplendent performance to dazzle the numerous supporters who trooped to Adako Jachie training grounds yesterday. Ashmah produced four assists and scored one for the Porcupines. He was too strong for his opponents to tame his phenomenal showings.
The adroit defender has got blistering pace. He is perfect in passes and has got eyes for goals. He gave it all in yesterday’s friendly.
Richard Senanu’s comeback
Asante Kotoko midfield prodigy, Richard Senanu, who has been battling with cruciate ligament injury yesterday played his first friendly match after two years. His comeback was obviously a blissful one for the supporters. He will certainly need a few friendly matches to hit where he left off. He displayed his usual intelligence passes and positioning which of course were good to give hope.
Solomon Sarfo Taylor started-off with a goal
The Porcupine newbie was not the player we saw in Karela some years ago in the Ghana Premier League due to lack of match fitness. Nonetheless, he indicated that he has a high intelligence quotient in goal-scoring. He slotted in a nice ball to hit the back of the net to begin life in Kotoko. He was a tormentor around the eighteen-yard-box. Furthermore, he is a great player to help Kotoko, but the truth is, he will need good time to find his former form.
For now, Kotoko team, even without Kwame Opoku looks good to win Ghana Premier League. The quality in the team can always pull surprises.
