Nana Akufo-Addo Joins Asantehene In First Akwasidae
Yesterday, Sunday 10 marked the first Akwasidae in the year 2021 held at Bogyawe at Manhyia Palace.
Gracing the event was His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, Queen of the Asante Kingdom Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Chiefs and Queen mothers, political figures, Members of the Diplomatic Corps and other high profile dignitaries.
President Akufo-Addo in a speech showed his appreciation to the people of the Ashanti Region for voting for him massively in the just ended election.
The ceremony witnessed series of cultural displays as chiefs and guests paid homage to the King of the Asante Empire.
Protocols for COVID-19 especially the wearing of nose masks were highly observed by both dignitaries and attendees to the event.
Security was at its peak as members from the Security Agencies were seen at all corners of the ceremony and various strategic points in/around the Palace.
Akwasidae is a festival among the Asantes and is celebrated after every forty days according to the Akan calendar.
The last Akwasidae took place on 29th November, 2020.
