President For ECOWAS Bank For Investment And Development Pays Courtesy Call On Otumfuo
The President of ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development, Dr. George Agyekum Nana Donkor, has paid a courtesy call on Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The visit which took place on Thursday, August 6, 2020, granted the President of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development opportunity to brief the highly revered King about the Garden City Mall project.
Welcoming the President and his entourage, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his appreciation for the visit and urged them to continue to work hard for the completion of the project.
Briefing the Media about the visit, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor said, “We visited the Garden City Mall together with the CEO of Garden City Mall and his team. The purpose of the visit was to appraise ourselves with the development so far regarding the construction.”
“As you may be aware , the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development which is a regional bank owned by the fifty-three member countries financed the project to the tune of $20 million, but by now the project should have been completed, but as we are all aware due to COVID-19 pandemic it is yet to be completed.”
He further highlighted the rationale behind his visit to the site.
“I decided as the new President of the bank to visit the site to see for myself where they have gotten to, the challenges they are facing so that we can swiftly render our support.”
The approx. 20 000m² 14-acre land at the Suame Roundabout, Kumasi, is being used for the project which comes with a clinic, pharmacy and beauty shop, banks, restaurants, car park and cinema hall.
The project was expected to take approximately 18 months to be completed but following the outbreak of Coronavirus it is yet to be completed.
The three-storey shopping mall would have amenities such as shops, car park and escalators.
The state-of-the-art facility is being co-financed by ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development and GCB Bank.
