CORONA VIRUS: Obuasi residents now wearing nose masks amidst rise in infections- NCCE Director

The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Mr Wilson Raphael has stated that education from his outfit has yielded positive results among residents in the mining town of Obuasi who are now observing safety protocols as the area is still in the lead regarding recorded cases of COVID-19 in the region
“Obuasi people are wearing their nose masks to avoid the spread of Conoravirus”, the Regional NCCE Director told host of Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM morning show, George Opoku Mensah.
According to Mr. Wilson Raphael  Arthur, after majority of residents have tested positive for COVID-19, placing them on top of recorded cases in the region, the Commission as a matter of urgency intensified civic education in the area.
“After earlier reports, I drove to the place with my staff from Kumasi and the briefings from the Police Command in Obuasi was that people are now putting on their masks”, he explained on the Nkwantananso show. He further called on other Regional Directors in all the regions to also intensify their efforts in the fight against the novel COVID-19.
The Ashanti Region, according to latest update from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has a total of 2,275 Covid-19 confirmed cases which also brings the presumed number of infected nurses to about 100.
Earlier, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA),Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, revealed that at least about 20 doctors have also been infected with Coronavirus, which has become an albatross on our neck.
Mr. Arthur therefore urged the people in the region not to disregard the government’s measures and directives put in place to check the spread of the dreaded virus.
