Vetting of Mahama Nominees Now Open to Accredited and Invited Persons Only

The Parliamentary Service has decided to limit the number of people who physically access the Appointments Committee Conference room for the vetting of Ministerial appointees of President John Dramani Mahama.

In a statement, it said the decision was made with careful consideration of the safety of lawmakers, parliamentary staff and the public following a high number of members of the public visiting Parliament to physically witness proceedings.

Henceforth, it said only invited and accredited persons will be allowed access to the conference room to witness the process.

“The general public is accordingly informed that only persons with invitation cards or appropriate accreditation would be permitted to access the Committee room and the precincts of Parliament.”

“Parliament puts premium on the security and safety of Members, staff and the general public. In order to ensure the security and safety of Members, staff and the general public, as well as enable the smooth operation of the Appointments Committee, Parliament has decided to limit physical access to the venue of proceedings.”

It urged the public to watch the proceedings from home as a number of Media Houses have been granted accreditation to broadcast it.
