GES Suspends Tsito SHTS Headmaster, Others Over Diversion of Students Food

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the interdiction of Tsito Senior High Technical School headmaster, Rev. Joy Kafui Akpebu over the diversion of food products meant for the students.

He has been interdicted alongside two others including the Storekeeper identified as Sylvanus Awunyo and the Driver, Samuel Kwame Ampeh.

According to a statement issued by the GES, the three allegedly conspired to divert 100 cartons of tinned tomatoes intended for student meals in the Volta Region.

The Service said their suspension was to make way for a thorough investigation into the issue.
It said their suspension is in accordance with its code of ethics.

“This decision is in accordance with Section 8, Clauses (i-v) of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Code of Conduct, which authorizes the interdiction of staff who may interfere with an ongoing investigation.”

This comes after it was reported that senior high schools across the country were challenged with limited food supply which was impeding academic activities.

The government on that note ordered some food items that were being stored at Tema to be distributed across the country.
