NIB Boss Has No Illegally-acquired Gov’t Land to Surrender- Lawyers
The Lawyers of the Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau, Nana Attobrah Quaicoe have rubbished allegations that he has agreed to surrender an illegally acquired state land to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee.
According to a statement issued by the lawyers, he has no state land in his possession to surrender.
This follows claims by Lawyer Martin Kpebu, a member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, that Nana Quaicoe, following engagements with the ORAL committee, has agreed to surrender a parcel of land belonging to the State, and that in consideration, the ORAL committee will not pursue further action against him.
“We are instructed to say that, the statements made by Mr Martin Kpebu on ‘Keypoints’, a television show aired by TV3, and subsequently republished by several media outlets, are contrived, false and without any basis.”
They affirmed that their client has neither contacted nor engaged any member of the ORAL committee, particularly Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa about any government land, contrary to the claims by Mr Martin Kpebu, a member of the committee.
“Further, we are instructed to say that our client is not in possession of any illegally-acquired government land as falsely peddled in the media,” it emphasized urging the public to disregard the claims.
The statement indicated that the allegations were calculated to injure the reputation of the NIB boss, threatening legal action against Kpebu if he failed to retract.
“{We} call on the private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu, to retract the utterly false and defamatory statements published about our client, failing which our client may resort to necessary legal action to vindicate his name and rights.”
