EC Suspends Ablekuma North Re-collation Over 7 Outstanding Polling Stations

The Electoral Commission (EC) has temporarily suspended the collation process for the Ablekuma North constituency due to unresolved issues with results from seven outstanding polling stations.

This decision comes as the EC seeks to verify and authenticate the results from these polling stations before proceeding with the final collation.

Out of the 20 outstanding polling stations before the collation exercise on Monday, January 6, presiding officers have successfully authenticated 13 of the pink sheets submitted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking to journalists at the collation centre in Accra, the returning officer, Vincent Obeng, explained that the commission has been unable to reach the presiding officers for the remaining seven polling stations, prompting the decision to suspend the exercise for the day.

“As we began this morning, I told you we are left with 20 polling stations and I called my presiding officers to come and authenticate, and NDC also tendered in three pink sheets of which two already the presiding officers had authenticated, so we were able to do extra making 13 polling stations.

“So as it stands now, we are still left with seven polling stations to be confirmed by the presiding officers. Since they are not here, I refer the work to the commission to decide on that,” he stated.
