Asantehene Celebrates Christmas With Subjects
The Christmas festivity was not watched on to slip away at the Manhyia Palace on December 25, 2024.
The Palace, as part of its traditions, held a celebration to mark the birth of Christ.
The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II sat in state to mark the occasion with Nananom, his family, his subjects and royals.
All were afforded the rare opportunity not just to pay homage but to receive his blessings through handshakes.
Hundreds showed up at the occasion to reaffirm their loyalty and commitment to the King as well as share in the occasion.
Among them were Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem and Nana Kwame Kyeretwie- the King’s children- his employees from his media organisation (Opemsuo Radio), foundation, museum, police officers, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, the Regional and National House of Chiefs Workers and his courtiers.
Also part of the guests was a delegation of Nigeriens resident in the Kingdom.
“You have given us a place in your kingdom to occupy and so on this festive occasion we had to come and pay homage to you,” they told the King through his linguist, Baffour Kantankrakyi
It was also an occasion for some traditional authorities and guests to express their gratitude in kind to the King.
Among such gifts was a portrait of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Konadu Yiadom II, Otumfuo Osei Tutu Agyemang Prempeh II and Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, with the Golden Stool separating the two generation of rulers.
The King in his enormous kindness distributed to his courtiers and employees Christmas presents.
