Outstanding Eastern Regional Parliamentary Results Collation Underway
The collation of outstanding parliamentary results from the Eastern Region is currently underway at the National Police Training School (NPTS) at Tesano in Accra.
The exercise is taking place under a heavy security presence after the process was marred by violence at the collation centre.
In a press statement issued on December 12, the Ghana Police Service said it had enhanced security measures for the collation of four outstanding constituencies in the Eastern Region.
It announced, “The four outstanding collations have been relocated to the National Police Training School (NPTS) at Tesano in Accra, which is currently ongoing with a fortified security presence of Police and Military to ensure the safety and security of the process.”
So far, it said one of the constituencies has been successfully completed, leaving three whose collation processes are still ongoing.
It noted that a similar arrangement has been made in the Ashanti and Bono East Regions for the remaining collations where the Police are waiting for the Electoral Commission to confirm the date for these exercises.
“The Police wish to assure the public that adequate security has been provided to enable Electoral Commission officials to carry out their duties without obstruction.”
