Bukom Banku’s Son Bows to Undefeated Mohammad Issa
Mustapha Kamoko, the third son of former Ghanaian boxer Bukom Banku, suffered a round-three defeat to undefeated Jordanian boxer Mohammad Issa in their WBC Youth World Championship fight on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Dubai.
Popularly known as Bukom Machine, the 20-year-old boxer entered the ring with the hope of upsetting his opponent to win the title. Wearing white shorts with the inscription “I love my father,” he recorded his first defeat in what was also his first bout outside Ghana.
Bukom Machine abandoned the fight in the third round after his opponent delivered a combination of punches.
Before the bout, Bukom Banku’s son, who is a middleweight boxer, had a record of eight wins with seven knockouts and no defeats.
Bukom Machine is the third boxer to come out of Bukom Banku’s stables.
Bukom Banku’s firstborn, Amando Kamoko, also started as a boxer but has currently put his boxing career on hold.
His second son, Abubakar Kamoko, better known as Ambitious Tilapia, won silver for Ghana in boxing at the 2023 African Games hosted in Ghana.
Bukom Banku has a total of 13 children.
