Akufo-Addo Invites Mahama over Transition Process
Outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has invited John Dramani Mahama, the President-elect of Ghana to a meeting at the Jubilee House.
Primarily featuring in the meeting scheduled for December 11, will be the transition process.
“In the spirit of collaboration, the President has invited the President-elect for a meeting on Wednesday, 11th December 2024, at Jubilee House to initiate the transition process,” the Director of Communication at the Jubilee House conveyed in a statement on December 9.
In the statement, he relayed the President’s commitment to a smooth transition of power to the National Democratic Congress administration on January 7, 2025, as he congratulated the former President on his resounding victory.
“President Akufo-Addo calls on all Ghanaians to unite and work together to consolidate democracy and the rule of law in our country.
“He remains committed to the principles of good governance and a peaceful transition that will further strengthen Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa,” it added.
John Dramani Mahama decisively won the election on December 7. He garnered 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total valid votes, while his fiercest contender, the New Patriotic Party’s Mahamudu Bawumia, received 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.
