But For Ashanti Region, I Wouldn’t Be President- Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has credited the Ashanti Region for his successful presidential ambition.

Speaking at the Manhyia Palace on his “Thank You” tour in the Ashanti Region, he stated that his ambition wouldn’t have been realised without the massive support of the region which is the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) stronghold.

“I came on a visit. I’ve been in the Ashanti Region for farewell. The work Ghanaians gave me is coming to an end and so I had to come and thank all especially Otumfuo.”

“I wouldn’t have been President but for Asanteman. You have helped me in my governance and I’m grateful,” he continued.

The President said this when he visited the Manhyia Palace on November 26.

He was in the company of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon Asenso Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako and other officials of his party and government.

The Ashanti Region has been the vote bank of the ruling party. In the 2016 Presidential Election, the NPP garnered 1,646,949 votes in the Region. The President went ahead to win a second term in 2020 with a whopping 1,795, 824 votes in the same region.
