Sefwi Anhwiaso Chief Re-elected President of National House of Chiefs

The Paramount chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has been re-elected as President of the National House of Chiefs.

In an election conducted on Friday, November 22, 2024, he polled 42 out of the 72 votes to defeat the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II.

This gives Ogyeahoho a second term into office.

In the race for Vice President of the House, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II overtook his three contenders with 54 votes.

The new leaders were sworn in to immediately continue oversight.

In an address, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II expressed gratitude to members of the House for the confidence and reaffirmed his commitment to preserving the country’s cultural heritage, urging for unity within the House and concerted efforts for peace in the upcoming general elections.

He further laid out plans to digitise the operations of the House to enhance efficiency and efficacy as well as commitment to resolving all outstanding legal disputes within the institution.
