Fire Guts Agbogbloshie
A raging fire has destroyed makeshift structures used for domestic and commercial purposes at Agbogbloshie in the Greater Accra Region.
The fire, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) started around 9 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Fire fighters from the Accra City and Circle Fire Stations responded to the scene and worked assiduously to douse the flames which it said had done extensive damage.
“The fire had already engulfed several makeshift wooden structures and was spreading rapidly in all directions. Despite challenging access to the fire’s seat, the tactical team brought the blaze under control at 12:54 AM and fully extinguished it at 1:38 AM this morning,” it said in a statement.
It, however, reported no injuries and fatalities.
The Service also confirmed, “While numerous wooden structures and their contents were destroyed, firefighters successfully salvaged several adjoining structures.”
