It’s Not About Insults, Just Sell Your Policy – Asantehene to Politicians

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene has underscored the essence of keeping political campaigns clean and devoid of derogatory statements.

According to the King, these insults do not convince electorates to vote but policies do.

He, therefore, urged political players to stick to selling their policies to drive development rather than statements that may cause flare-ups and hurt the country’s peace and stability.

“We pray to God to make everything {upcoming elections} peaceful. Ghana is one. By the power of God Ghana will remain. We go to the polls every four years. After your policy is sold, the citizens will decide who they want. It’s not about insult and derogatory remarks.”

Otumfuo made these remarks when the Flagbearer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, alongside his party executives joined the last Awukudae Festival on November 20, 2024 at the Manhyia Palace to officially inform him about his Presidential bid and request for his blessings.

“I am contesting in the Presidential Election. Nana please say any prayer needed for my victory. The contest is tough and I need your prayer to win,” he said.

He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Adwoa Akpaloo, his Vice Presidential Candidate, Mrs Elizabeth Sam, party executives and parliamentary candidates of his party.
